No Thank You
Every Sunday I send out something to think about, a question to ponder and something to try to make your life a little more pleasant. The idea is to inspire and encourage positive change. Readers share their progress so we can all benefit from the learnings.

THINK
“If you can’t decide, the answer is No.”
– Naval Ravikant
We all fill our lives with things we feel indifferent about. Some more than others.
If we’re not careful, we become busy with the bog-standard. Denying ourselves the delights of an opportunity because we ‘don’t have the time’.
Derek Sivers (author of ‘Hell Yeah or No’) encourages us to “say yes to less”.
If we’re not feeling “Hell yeah, that would be awesome!” about something, then say no.
There’s something quite liberating about saying no.
When you say no to almost everything, you’ll free up space in your mind, and your calendar, when something really cool comes your way.
- You have more time to accept wonderful opportunities.
- You can put more energy into the wonderful opportunities.
- You’ll be able to take more action and deliver at a higher level.
- You’ll be offered more wonderful opportunities.
If you crave wonderful opportunities, start by saying no to things that don’t excite you.
Reflect and share this thought with someone.

ASK
What one mediocre thing are you allowing space for in your life?
If removed, it would make your life more valuable, fun or less stressful?
Write down what comes to mind.

TRY
Say no to a mediocre opportunity this week.
You don’t have to wait for an invitation.
Is there an appointment, meeting or commitment you don’t enjoy? That you’d love to let go.
Take the initiative and say no in advance.
You know you’re on the right track if the prospect of removing it makes you a little giddy.
Try saying yes to something that excites you. It might not happen today or this week but grasp an opportunity that gets your juices flowing and see where it takes you.
Remember: Little by little, a little becomes a lot.
