THINK
“I’ll do anything for free stuff.”
Sandra Bullock
Regular readers will know that I share simple concepts that aren’t always easy to act on.
The stuff can change your life, but it involves work or discomfort.
This week, we’re going EASY across the board.
Simple concept. Easy execution.
Making money doesn’t have to require significant sacrifice or budgeting brains.
In this week’s Newsletter, I’m going to show you how to effortlessly put cash in your pocket whilst you spend money.
Once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it…
By NOT doing it, you’re knowingly leaving money on the table every time you spend money.
Oh, and it’s easy-peasy lemon squeezy.
Shall we…
Are You Leaving Money on the Table?
[HUW] “Do you spend money online?”
[COACHING CLIENT] “Why do I feel like I’m being set up?”
[HUW] “You’re not. Just answer the question… Do you spend money online?”
[COACHING CLIENT] “Yes, of course….”
[HUW] “Do you use Cashback websites?”
[COACHING CLIENT] “No… What are Cashback websites?”
[HUW] “Ha ha. You’re an idiot! I win!”
[COACHING CLIENT] “….. [Ends Call]”
The second best thing about working with coaching clients is helping them identify areas for improvement that can help transform their finances and their lives.
The single best thing is making them feel stupid whilst I bask in the glory of knowing EVERYTHING there is to know about money… But that’s not what today’s Newsletter is about.
Tune in next week! 😉
With all jovial twatiness aside, most people aren’t aware of what Cashback websites are, how they can earn money on everyday purchases, increase savings, with little to no extra effort.
Those that do assume they’re too good to be true or not worth the effort.
I’ve been using Cashback websites for over 14 years…
They’re legit.
They won’t make you rich overnight.
But they’re so easy to use, it’s almost rude not to.
By not using them, you leaving FREE money on the table.
You get paid for doing something you were going to do anyway.
What are Cashback Websites?
Cashback websites offer the opportunity to earn a percentage of your purchase amount (or fixed amount) back as a rebate when you shop online through their affiliate link.
You receive money back from the Cashback website for spending money, effectively reducing the overall cost of spending or increasing income (however you want to look at it).
Every time you click through and purchase something from one of the 1,000s of retailers, the business pays the cashback website a commission for referring you to their website. The cashback website passes the commission back to you as ‘Cashback’.
Topcashback and Quidco are the main two sites in the UK. There isn’t much between them, but I’ve always used Topcashback.
Here are some examples of some of the deals available at Topcashback.co.uk. There are literally 1,000s:
If you plan on shopping at ASOS, you click on the ASOS link via Topcashback, which directs you to the ASOS website, and you shop as normal. You’d then get up to 6.3% on purchases as Cashback.
If you transfer your Stocks and Shares ISA to Fidelity via their link, you can earn up to £440 Cashback.
It’s really that simple.
Sandra Bullock would be buzzing!
When do you get your Cashback?
Depending on the retailer, it can show in your account in minutes, hours or days as ‘Pending Approval’.
Once approved, which again depends on the retailer (usually several weeks), you can withdraw the money from your Topcashback account via BACS or PayPal for any amount above 1p.
On average, it might take around eight weeks for the money to be approved. Sometimes sooner, sometimes longer.
They even offer additional rewards for exchanging the cash into vouchers upon withdrawal. I tend to take cash, but now and again, I’ll request an Amazon voucher and get an additional bump.
EG.
- Amazon Voucher (2% Bonus)
- Tesco (5% Bonus)
- Deliveroo (5% Bonus)
- Primark (6% Bonus)
- Etc.
How Much Can You Earn Using Cashback Sites?
It’s going to depend on how much you spend online and if you remember to use them.
I’m not a massive spender, but I use them all the time.
In 2023, I made £122.24.
Like I said, you’re not going to get rich overnight, but that £122 was effortless.
I could spend it on a date night or invest it in Bitcoin or a bit of both.
I’ve made £1,000s over the years.
If you spend more than me (most likely), you’ll earn more.
WARNING: Don’t let the tail wag the dog.
- If you sign up to one of these sites, don’t spend for the sake of spending to get Cashback.
- Shop as you normally would.

How to use Cashback websites to supercharge your savings:
1) Sign up for at least one cashback site. It doesn’t matter which.
- I use Topcashback.co.uk*
- Quidco.com is another reputable company.
*This is an affiliate link but you receive £10 for signing up with it.
**I don’t care about the commission I receive. Sign up without it if you wish. I just want you to use the site or Quidco.
2) Whenever you’re about to spend money on something… ANYTHING… type the store into the search bar to see if you can get Cashback. It literally takes seconds.
- Don’t limit yourself to online stores. Most retailers you purchase ‘in-person’ have online purchasing options with cashback facilities.
- Don’t let the tail wag the dog. Spend as you normally would, not because of the Cashback.
3) Business spending counts.
- Don’t limit spending to personal. If you have a business, check the site to see if you can receive money for spending money on your business.
4) Save the Cashback site to your browser to remember it.
- Remembering to use it is half the battle.
- Once you do it a few times, you’ll get into the habit.
5) When withdrawing, check the ‘Reward Wallet’ for vouchers on any retailers you regularly use (ie. Amazon, Tesco, Delieroo, etc.) as they offer additional bonuses on Cashback.
- This ranges from 2-20% extra on your payout.
- If in doubt, take the cash.
6) If you use it and like it, recommend it to friends and family.
- Share your success with others and help them discover the benefits of cashback websites.
- Use your referral link to receive a commission and give your friend additional Cashback for joining. Win-Win!
7) ADVANCED: Use in conjunction with Cashback credit cards.
- For the financially disciplined, you can double up the rewards and get Cashback on Cashback Credit Cards and Cashback Websites.
